Re: Need help
Mon, August 15, 2005 - 10:09 AMYou could always camp the way John Muir did... just wear a long, heavy coat to wrap up in at night.
Seriously, I'm not sure how you should proceed. Do you have friends in the campground? (I'm not camping and know very little about the spot.)
REI is the only place I know of for renting gear. One in Seattle and one in Redmond that I know of. -

Re: Need help
Mon, August 15, 2005 - 2:15 PMThere's got to be some sort of Walmart or Target or something on I-90 up to the Gorge. Maybe in Ellensburg. (Although they could be sold out of tents!)
We considered camping when we went but didn't. What will you do with your tent when it's time to fly home?
And if you do camp, yes you will need a camping pass. Check on the Warehouse, there are people on there all the time selling them. I bought a 3day pass last year and tried to sell it last minute and couldn't. I ended up eating it. But they seem to be something that people decide to sell at the last minute so check on there, I just saw a 3 day pass for sale on there yesterday when I was checking for extra tix.
I've heard good and bad stories about camping. Some say it's wild and loud, some love it. I, am a nice clean bed and shower/Hotel girl. So ixnay on the camping for me.
If you're going to get a hotel, good luck, I'm sure they're booked. We stayed one year at a BW in Ellensberg (about 30 min outside of the Gorge) You could try for a hotel there. Last year we stayed in Moses Lake. You could check there. But that's the town everyone picks first for a hotel.
Good luck! Happy Gorging! I will miss it for sure....

Mon, August 15, 2005 - 5:56 PMThanks guys - does anyone know about the different campsites, so far I've found two others besides the gorge one - wildhorse and getty's cove - does anyone know if there's much of a difference between any of them? and if there might still be room?
