singing Dave karaoke at the Gorge

Karaoke is not everyone's cup of tea, but I've had this thought for awhile and wondered if there'd be any interest in singing karaoke of Dave tunes.
There are about 15 songs available. I have a karaoke macine and a small power supply. Would people enjoy or be annoyed if I set up the machine and let passers by sing a tune for whomever?
Sadly not every DMB song is available, and there are a few I wish I could get. Guitar players have the advatage there, I guess. I mention the guitar players because I always think it's fun to see them play and have others sing along.

Hello you beautiful people!!! I just found out this was a group and I'm so excited! I have big plans to make it to the Gorge to see DMB this year. Last year was my very first show and I fell in love. The camping was amazing, the concert was incredible, and the people were awesome! I got to camp next to Goerge (the gyro and breakfast burrito guy?) and sell my jewelry... was also directly across from the pizza people (who had an oven in the back of their truck *lol*) and in the same tent as the temporary tatoo people. I wonder if anyone remembers me? I spoke to everyone and loved the whole situation so much!!! I'm looking forward to another year of DMB at the Gorge. Just wanted to thank anyone who I got to hang out with for making our concert an incredible event!!!

Wheel Chair from camp ground

I've been desperately trying to get information on wheel chair access from the camp ground. Broke my foot a month ago (and can't put any weight on it) and either need to use crutches or wheel chair to get from the camp ground to the amphitheater. Is there a shuttle or some sort of concrete path?

It's almost time

I got my tickets in the mail yesterday and it's almost time. I've got reserved for night 1 and lawn for night 2. My 17YO nephew has become a fan and he'll be enjoying his first live concert. He's in track, so I hope he can "fly" down to those terraced lawn seats and stake our claim. :)

The Hershey, PA DMB tribe was counting down for two months. You guys seem less excitable... maybe just taking your dose of Dave in stride like a more experienced addict.

The schedule appears to have the band taking a couple of weeks off prior to the SF concerts. (Was he resting or playing somewhere else?) Then here. C'mon, Dave! Be sure to play Say Goodbye for me, will ya?

I guess I-90 will be in better shape than last year. I avoided the construction last year by taking the Vantage Hwy out of Ellensburg. That is a scary road at night. Wow! No roadside lights and in the middle of nowhere. Fun to turn the car lights off while driving (though my GF disagrees).

2005 show - Kid question

This'll be my first ampitheathre show and I was wondering if kids (say, under 3 yrs old) are allowed in for free?

I requested "best available" seats, but was wondering if we got lawn seats if we'd be able to bring the kiddos w/out having to pay an extra cost.

Anybody ever camped up there w/ kids??
I expect it'll be too hot but we're just checking out our options for the boys at this point.

Items you can't take into the Gorge Amphitheater

I know a few, such as:

No glass bottles
No opened plastic bottles
No cameras of any kind (especially video cams they hate those)
Stadium chairs are ok I think.

Any one else have more to add to this list? What are all of the things you can't bring in to the show?

Tail-gate Vending?!

O.K. so I've been a devoted DMB fan since seeing them long ago at the Horde Fest, and the Gorge show is the first one I've been able to get to since then! I am SOOOOOO excited. I live in the Gorge(Hood River) & I KNOW how beautiful an experience this will be:) And a full moon this year, to boot! What I want to know is, do people vend stuff in the camp grounds? I run my own Organic Baking business and do a lot of tail-gate vending, and was wondering how cool it was to Do that sort of thing. Who thinks folks would be happy to get hot, organic coffee and goodies when they wake up?

Ok, so here's my little rant about ticketbastard. i'm sure we all share a love/hate relationship for those whores. before the days of online ticket sales, i use to go to a tiny little store that no one else had any idea about, and i would be maybe one of 5 people online for tickets to any event, and i would always end up with the GA tickets i wanted for shows, or the best seats in the house. since 2001, it's been way tougher to get quality seats for certain shows. maybe not everyone sees this to be true. i'm sure there are some people who always get what they're looking for.

in any event, i've had it up to here (try to picture me with my hand in the air) with shitty ticketbastard. ( i shouldn't complain since i was able to get a GA ticket for the U2 show coming around, but that's in december, so that doesn't count right now). i'm just pissed this morning because the ticketwhore said that the gorge shows were going on sale at 9 AM, and there's nothing going on.

now, either they got the onsale times wrong for the gorge dates (everything else is listed at 10 AM) or three days already sold through the warehouse and various presales. i already have days one and two (reserved) and i got screwed out of day three. how can they give you two days of a three day stint, but not give anything for the third. ok, so i didn't get reserved, couldn't i have been given lawn???

i'll try again at 10 to see if there's any action. i just wanted to avoid having to go through people or ebay or insane ticket prices to get this ticket.

What a weekend!

Man that was awesome. It had been three years since I had been to the Gorge, it was good to be back. I hope everyone enjoyed the shows as much as I did. The only thing I was bummed about was missing Fridays show. The setlist was more of what I would like, too bad I didn't get to see it. I think Sundays show kicked butt, you could tell Dave's voice was fading though. The weather was perfect, not too hot. Last time I was there it was 110 degrees every day. Good good times y'all, take care see ya next time.

This means nothing, right? It's all first come, first available, as far as camping spots right?

IMPORTANT DMB UPDATE:We would like to inform the concert goers attending the Dave Matthews Band concert at the Gorge on September 3, 2004 of anticipated traffic congestion near Vantage. The construction project building truck climbing lanes on Interstate 90 from Ryegrass to Vantage will still have the roadway reduced to one lane in the eastbound direction over the Labor Day weekend. We anticipate significant delays on Friday, September 3rd between 2pm and midnight.

Just wanted to introduce myself. Ill be at the Vantage campground(KOA)starting on Thursday night. If anyone in here wants to jam I'll have 2 guitars with me. Ill be in a Silver Subaru Forester. I'll have my big black dog with me. You might find me sitting down by the river during the day. I play an aluminum finished Martin thin body. So look for the weird looking guy with the weird looking guitar and that will be me. Feel free to come up and say hi. Ill have plenty of yummy green things with me so come by and have a smoke!

Wacky Gorge Stories

Ok, how about we post a few wacky stories from DMB at the gorge from years past. My best one:

Naked Levi.

While walking toards the exit of one of the 2001 shows, we accidentally went under a fence/advertisement and ended up on the walkway near the man-made pond at the entrance to the ampitheatre.

Several other random people had gone astray with us, and when we came upon the pond and the empty path, we knew we were in the wrong place. The cow herd of people were over on the otherside of the picket fence about 50 feet away.

Someone challenged this guy Levi to take off all his clothes and jump in the lake. We were all pretty twisted one way or another, and after we had come up with $10, the guy did it. That was when these security dudes showed up.

They weren't really very happy, and dragged Levi out of the pond. It was hilarious, there were hundreds of people in the watching the whole thing as they walked by and people cheered.

Unfortunatly, Levi spent the night in jail and got a restraining order from the premesis. He did manage to make it back into the campground and tell the story. It didn't seem worth it to me, but Levi didn't seem that upset.

I've talked to people up there since then who actually saw this happen. It was crazy to have been right there.

How much do they search, are they even GOING to search my car, and what are they gonna jack from me if they do search? Anyone Showing up September 2nd? I usually arrive in the afternoon of the first show, but this year I think we're going early. You get a better spot that way, and there's no scrambling on the day of the show.

Hello, howdy, and how yall doin.

I'm a nudge new ifn you hadn't gathered. I came in via recommendation from my sister, Kirsten869, hope she doesn't mind I name dropped. I have no shame. If you could buy shame, I couldn't afford it anyway. I can, however, afford tickets to see Dave at the Gorge.

I saw him last year at the Gorge, which was fantastic. The best part about it, was running into him in an airport parking lot the Tuesday before the show. Dave was really cool, shook my hand and bs'd with me a little bit. I got to say..."see ya thursday" (since my show was Thursday) to Dave Matthews...I maybe a dork...but that was a cool moment.

Yes yes, I know what they say about the curious cat....but satisfaction brought him back.

Anyway, I know we all have one musical thing in common. I was curious what everyone's favorite movie was. See if there are any common threads in that form of entertainment.

Some of my favorites are...The Crow, Big Fish (anything by Tim Burton really), Big fan of the Marx Bros. The movie I've seen the most and can quote almost line for line is HELP starring the Beatles. Of course there are many other favorites, but I shall stop for now.

Some cooler things I've seen in the past DMB shows at the Gorge:

1. Huge tent with Disco lights and vinyl dj booth.
2. Parasailing in the parking lot
3. Fly overs from nearby air force base
4. A corona about the sun (amazing)

Things Hoped for this year:
1. A good vibe from campers and reasonable security personnell
2. Lax open container enforcement.
3. More vendors.

I was so excited to be moving back to the States (Seattle area) and to be heading to the gorge for all three shows while meeting up with alot of my good friends from college.....there has been a change in plans.

Turns out I will be heading to Iraq for the next year sometime this summer from Korea. Looks like I can try and get tickets for like the 2006 shows or something. Ha ha ha!
